Curled coir begins as clean strand twisted hard into thick rope, then left to rest until the twist becomes memory. Months later the rope is opened and the fibre springs back as a permanent curl: this is curled coconut fibre, the resilient heart of rubberised coir sheet, bedding cores and sprung upholstery. Buyers asking for coir for mattresses are asking for this.
