What a brand stakes on its base fibre
The promise printed on the bag is kept or broken by the fibre inside it. Retailers and growers are moving away from peat and supply is tightening; the substitute must behave the same in March as in November, or the drift surfaces as complaints with your name on them.
- A stated spec that repeats: EC at or under 0.50, pH 5.5-6.8, published per lot.
- Structure, air and rewetting from sun-cured, screened crumb.
- Roughly 70-75 litres from every 5 kg block, so the recipe maths holds.
- The certificate travels with every lot, dated and numbered.
The preparation
How the house prepares it
The bag carries your name rather than ours; the house prepares the fibre so the blend behaves the same, bag after bag, season after season.
Fresh water to EC at or under 0.50, measured 1:1.5. The loose salts leave before the fibre goes anywhere near a blend.
Six weeks of sun on the yard: even moisture through the heart of the crumb, and no forced heat.
An even grade to your recipe; long fibre out or left in, stated either way on the papers.
An independent laboratory tests every lot for EC, pH, moisture and sand: the report your customers never read but always feel.
The same spec on reorder. The register is dated, and the season's price holds.
